A HEART FOR GOD

In the early 1990’s, God sent Timothy Haahs a wake-up call. His health became disastrous, and over the next few years he endured not one, but TWO heart transplants. God used this experience to challenge and inspire Tim to completely dedicate his life to the Lord’s purpose. Shortly after his surgery, God called Timothy Haahs and close friend Thomas Yi to start a church with the purpose of reaching out to a lost world. That church is Calvary Vision Church.

The Calvary Vision Center

Our church facility is actually a community center. It was designed by our senior pastor Tim Haahs and his company Timothy Haahs & Associates, Inc. The center is technologically advanced and in a modern style, giving a feel of both comfort and purpose.

Please read about each part of the church below for more details.

Auditorium

Our welcoming auditorium accommodates 350 people. The center of attention is our stage and 200-inch projection screen. A soft wall wash guides visual interest to the stage. Our chairs are padded and movable. There is a backstage area located stage-right for use with services and productions. We implement a live interpretation of services and events in other languages via wireless headsets. Sound, lighting, video, projection, and recording are controlled by our “front of house” tech area, run by our Technical Team small group. The images and sound from the auditorium program are fed directly to the Vision Café.

Audio-Visual

The auditorium is equipped with both a front and rear projector. The front projector is a ceiling-mounted 4100-lumen XGA-resolution LCD unit, and projects onto a 200-inch projection screen. We also have an optional rear-facing projector, whose image is viewable from the stage. This gives the speaker and performers a visual reference to the main screen without having to turn around, or guess what is being projected behind them. This projector is a ceiling-mounted 1500-lumen XGA DLP projector.

Computer-based presentation software like PowerPoint can be operated from the rear of the auditorium, or a laptop can be connected at the front of the stage for the speaker to operate.

We use DVD and VHS video playback with seamless video mixing.

Our theatrical lighting system carries over 10,000-watts of power and includes PAR cans, lensed ellipsoidal spot lights, a fluorescent wall wash, and moving “intelligent” lights. Our entire lighting system is dimmable and programmable.

Our audio system is powered by five Crown CL contractor series amplifiers, and controlled with a professional sound board, effects, compression, Digital Signal Processing. We have 32 channels of audio input for live music performances or recording onto our hard disk recorder.

A wireless handheld microphone can be used for audience participation or Q+A. We use wired or wireless microphones to suit a variety of music and live event situations.

*The projected images and sound can be seen and heard in the Vision Café through our direct send from the auditorium.

Interpretation

The auditorium also implements a live interpretation system, with a separate interpreter’s room. Attendees can tune into the interpretation using personal wireless headsets.

Recording

We record our events using a professional hard disk recorder and digital video camera. We author these events for audio CD, DVD, and web distribution.

Technical Staff

Calvary Vision Center has technical team available to run our events. We’re currently seeking motivated volunteers!

Vision Café

Our Vision Café is a space for fellowship and interaction. A cloud-like structure in the center of the café serves as a reminder that God is among us, as he led the Israelites by a pillar of cloud. There is a sitting area with couches and artwork and a hardwood seating area.

Specialty Drinks

Our Vision Café small group spoils us with high quality drinks, using professional espresso/cappuccino/blending machines. During the summer, we love vanilla frappes and fruit smoothies. During the colder months, a steamed mocha hits the spot!

Capacity

The café seats 60 using smaller tables, and about 100 using larger tables. There is standing or “mingling” room for about 200.

Audio-Visual

The Vision café has its own dedicated sound system. Background music can be played on our CD player. Announcers and speakers use wired or wireless microphones. “Coffee House” bands tie directly into the sound system through four input channels, or indirectly through a portable mixer.

Our 3-monitor display array serves two functions. It is used to view the auditorium program live, via a direct video feed from the auditorium, and as digital signage to display information news.

Wifi

Need to check your email? We offer wireless internet access from the Vision Café.

Noah’s Place

Our Jr. Church kids have a place of their own at the Calvary Vision Center. Noah’s Place is the home of the Sunday morning Jr. Church bible study. The main room is covered with hand-painted murals and provides a fun atmosphere for the kids. There’s a padded mat area, indoor jungle gym, craft tables and supplies, a collection of toys and games, a computer with internet access, a projection TV with a DVD/VCR player and cable, and even a small stage with a spotlight.

We have special rooms designated for toddlers and infants, complete with beds, a sink, bathroom, and cots for napping.

Meeting Rooms

The Calvary Vision Center has several meeting rooms, accommodating ten to forty people. These rooms are perfect for studies, conferences, meetings, classes, seminars, and private instruction.
